     As depicted in the Scope and Sequence chart, each set of materials spans multiple grades.

     In conjunction with hands-on apparatus or with the guidance of a teacher, they introduce younger children to new concepts or provide needed enrichment.  "On level" students are more ready for abstraction, and augment with manipulatives and teacher guidance only "as needed."  Older children use the materials abstractly to strengthen confidence or to solidify previously learned skills in preparation of more advanced work.

     Of course, use of the material may vary with the background, confidence level, and curriculum of each student.
